PCT 2022| CALIFORNIA | DAY 3 Boulder Oaks Campground to Long Canyon Creek
Miles Hiked: 11.2 miles
Elevation: 2697 ft ascent | 624 ft descent
Most of the day was cloudy and cooler, which was absolutely glorious! It made the initial climb out of Boulder Oaks easy. I stopped at Kitchen Creek a few miles in to soak my feet and relax. James and Trippin soon joined. Then the clouds started to clear and it started to warm up. Any shade we could find was the best thing ever. We stopped at a small tent site about 2.5 miles from where we planned to camp…because, SHADE (and a late lunch). A few other hikers joined us and many others passed by. Finally, it was time to face the heat and get to camp (and water). I joined a section hiker and 3 other thru-hikers. Purple Jay, Finja, and Trippin joined us. There was water down a short but steep side trail that led to a creek. It wasn’t too difficult, but there were many thorns (ouch!). Ice cold water was the reward.
