March 2020 | I had a plan. I quit my job. Sold my Subaru Outback. Sold my house and many belongings. I was all set to thru-hike the Pacific Crest Trail. After I finished the hike, I was going to buy a van and start travel nursing.
We all know how 2020 went.
So, in early June, I bought my van. A 2019 Ford Transit High Roof Extended with barely 20,000 miles. The build took me over three months of working every day (with a break to hike the John Muir Trail right in the middle of it all). In October, I started my next adventure: travel nursing! Now it is 2024—travel across the west coast, six travel nurse assignments, JMT twice, and two summers hiking the PCT!

The kitchen includes a 2-burner propane stove. The 5-gallon propane tank is secured in a sealed propane box with venting through the floor and easy access right inside the sliding door. Large Ruvati 15”x15” brushed stainless steel sink. Matte black hardware, including a farmhouse utility faucet with a sprayer and soap dispenser. Ample storage: 2 upper cabinets, large counter-to-ceiling pantry, linen drawer under stove, 3 large lower cabinets, and two storage drawers. On the opposite wall, there is an Isotherm Cruise 85 Elegance 3 cubic foot fridge and freezer, as well as four small lower cabinets for storage.

Right as you step in, there is a cabinet with lots of storage, additional counter space, and a dedicated shoe cabinet. An L-shaped bench provides comfortable seating for two people and more storage. One side is a custom “cat corner” of sorts—a tiled floor and a perfect fit for a standard litter box, storage space, and a small cabinet for treats, toys, or supplies. This area could also work well for a small dog hideaway. The longer bench includes a storage compartment, bucket toilet, and storage for toilet paper and other goods. The toilet is urine-diverting with a 2.8-gallon tank and 5 5-gallon bucket. The toilet seat and additional components are easy to remove and could be replaced with a cassette toilet or certain composting toilets.
Large storage area above the cab, 2 exposed cabinets for books, plants, and other goods, a large upper cabinet, and a small cabinet that allows access to the 12v fuse block.
The permanent bedroom is a cozy space to relax. The full-size bed sits horizontally, allowing for more living space in the front of the van. The base is raised approximately 36 inches to allow for ample storage space in the garage below as well as a large cabinet and drawer that is accessible from the living area. The cabinet could be utilized for storage or as a small closet. The drawer is great for larger or heavy items. There is dual USB charging at the head of the bed. The foot of the bed includes a window for ventilation, 2 cabinets for clothing storage, and an open shelf for books. A long butcher block slab at the back of the van acts as additional table space while in bed.
The left side of the van provides enclosed access to the electrical system. The right side of the van is open to a 20 gallon water tank and easy access to refill the tank. There is a large open storage area.

The cab is completely enclosed, providing additional insulation to the rear living area. A small doors allows for access between the cab and living area. The is built in storage and hooks behind both seats allowing for better organization.
ALSO AVAILABLE: Custom built pet platform for the passenger seat. This allows for more comfortable transportation for pets! Window covers for all three windows provided.
