Climbing out of Hauser Creek first thing in the morning, through the fog and cool air confirmed that I had made the right decision the day before. Man, I am out of shape, haha. Definitely regretting not training as much as I should have. Plenty of excuses, but I should have made it happen. I made it to the malt shop in Lake Morena in time for an early lunch; grabbed a cold drink and some extra food for the next two days. The milkshake, burger, and fries tasted great at the moment, but I definitely overdid it and soon regretted my choices. I slowly walked back to the campground before continuing on the trail, full and nauseous. Just in time for the afternoon heat. I decided to make it a shorter day and stop at Boulder Oaks Campground. I saw my first small snake (not a rattlesnake).
