PCT 2022| CALIFORNIA | DAY 4 Long Canyon Creek to Mt Laguna
Miles Hiked: 5.1 miles
Elevation: 959 ft ascent | 321 ft descent
Short day (also called a “nearo” for near zero miles). Only 5 or so miles into town, just a short climb. It was an overall easy day with cold drinks, a shower, and laundry at the end. Unfortunately, the brewery (only place for food) is closed Monday-Wednesday, so no “real” meals today, just small grocery store grabs. I’ll get real food in a couple of days when I get to Julian.
Tonight I am staying at a Tiny House block. You can either rent a tiny house or a spot in the hostel (which has one private room—then 4 spaces in the “living” area for people to set up their pads). I got the private room with a bed. If I’m paying for a place to stay, it will be a place with a real bed!
The next few days are supposed to be warmer (high 70s to mid 80s), so early starts with breaks in the heat of the day, then hiking on in the evening if needed. I’m going to see how far I can make it. Julian is 35.8 miles away, so hopefully 2.5-3 days. Then my first hitch at Scissors Crossing to get into Julian!
