PCT SECTION HIKE | DAY 26 Forester Pass Basecamp to Wallace Creek
Miles Hiked: 12.5 miles
Elevation: 2460 ft ascent | 3297 ft descent
It’s Forester day! It is a cooold morning. Gloves on. Every layer worn. Slow and steady.
It is a beautiful day. There are only a few of us at the top. Autumn, Travis, and Natasha.
Down down down to Tyndall Creek. I thought about staying at frog ponds again, but it would make for a very early day. Maybe Bighorn Plateau, but the sun is hot and it is still early in the day. Time to push to Wright or Wallace Creek—most people I talk to say to push to Wallace.
They were right. I found a beautiful spot to pitch my tent. I met a few other hikers— a guy hiking from Cottonwood Lakes to Tahoe, a couple hiking the High Sierra Trail, another couple hiking from Cottonwood Lakes to Bishop. The last couple asked if I knew Rabbit (ie. Sharon “Gazelle”). They told me she was indeed pushing on to Crabtree. We talked for a while at the water’s edge—she was a former NICU nurse.
I decide to catch up on the lost sleep from yesterday. Early night tonight. Sleeping in tomorrow. It is only 7 miles to Guitar Lake!
