PCT SECTION HIKE | DAY 23 Rae Lakes to Onion Valley Trailhead
Miles Hiked: 11.6 miles
Elevation: 2586 ft ascent | 3922 ft descent
The last town day before the end. Jen, JP, and I left early in order to make it over Glen Pass first thing in the morning. It was not quite as bad as last year (no smoke this year), but still my least favorite pass. I made it up Glen by 0945, along with Lauren, Devin, Paola, and Christian. One final summit with most of the group. After a few pictures, we made our way down the south side of Glen.
As much as I wanted to stay, I separated from my tramily just before the Kearsarge junction. I knew that the last mile up to the pass was going to take forever, so I had to push. I made it to the top of Kearsarge by 1310, nearly the same as last year—less than two hours to make it to the bottom. Once again, I made it with 5 minutes to spare.
…and relax. Year two staying with Mt Williamson Motel + Basecamp (@mtwilliamsonmotel), highly recommend. Myself and two other hikers were picked up by Lone Pine Kurt. Cold drink. Laundry. Shower. Food from the taco truck. Drinks from the gas station. Resupply.
Tomorrow is a rest day. More food, relaxation, and maybe a ride to Lone Pine for a new pair of socks and fresh food from the market (all I want is fruit when I get off trail).
