PCT 2022| CALIFORNIA | DAYS 7-8 Zero Day and Scissors Crossing to …right above Scissors Crossing

Miles Hiked: 2.6 miles
Elevation: 808 ft ascent | 107 ft descent

Shower, laundry, real food, resupply shopping, and Mom’s Pie! I spent the day doing almost nothing and yet so many things at the same time. The afternoon was spent enjoying the company of many other hikers at Julian Beer Co.

Day 8 was supposed to be over 90. Hottest day of the week. Today was basically another zero in town. Relaxing and talking to other hikers. I took the 1500 shuttle from 2 Foot Adventures to the bridge and waited.

And waited and waited for the temperature to drop even a little before hiking a few miles. I didn’t want to night hike…I’m just not a fan. So I planned to go as far as I could before sunset.

Over a dozen of us waited for temperatures to decrease. In that time:

     ■ A turkey walked under the bridge
     ■ A trail angel dropped off water, gatorade packets, and popsicles!
     ■ More hikers arrived

I ended up getting most of the elevation gain out of the way and making camp 2.6 miles in. A campsite on the ridge with a beautiful view for sunset.
