Miles Hiked: 15.8 miles

TOWN DAY! And so hot. The push from Mt Laguna yesterday meant I could make it to Julian today. It was hot, perfect day for the umbrella. I saw one hiker (Sailor) right after leaving camp and then no one until the water source.
I got to the water source for lunch and tried to squeeze into the fading shade. Bottles were refilled with liters of ice-cold water. Then it was time to move on, even if only to find more shade. A few miles later I sought the shelter of a tree with Ducky, Sage, and Robin—Finja soon joined. I was itching to get moving, but temperatures were nearing the 90s. With just under 6 miles to go, I soon left into the late afternoon heat. Determined to make it to the comforts of air conditioning and a cold shower.
I arrived at Scissors Crossing a little after 1900. A group of nearly a dozen hikers was waiting under the bridge until temperatures started to drop. One of those hikers: Alyssa! I “met” Alyssa on a PNW women’s hiking group earlier in the year. A quick text to Professor and it was time for town.
