JMT | DAY 15 ARROWHEAD LAKE TO ONION VALLEY
Miles Hiked: 13.4 miles (mm 173.0-179.4 + 7 miles Kearsarge Pass Trail)
Elevation: 2,956 ft ascent | 4,043 ft descent
■ Making the miles, that is the goal of the day
■ Glen Pass by 10:05AM
■ Kearsarge Pass by 1:12
■ Initially looked like a foggy morning, soon realized it was smoke
■ Sent a Garmin message to family to make sure it was safe, told there were dozens of fires in the state
■ Met Jeff’s daughter Allison and boyfriend Matt just before reaching Kearsarge Pass
■ Messaged Jeff to let them know they were on their way with food!
■ Got to Kearsarge Pass a little later than I expected. Had 1.75 hours to make it the 4.5 miles to OV for my ride to Mt. Williamson
■ Made it to OV with 5 minutes to spare
■ Sean and Nick (from Red’s) were at Onion Valley. Turns out they (and Tom) were just a couple miles ahead most of the way
■ Greeted at Mt. Williamson with a cold drink, resupply bucket in room
■ Laundry service
■ Long, cold shower and foot care
■ Relaxed before walking to the gas station to add to my resupply
■ Got Mexican food at the food truck and a pint of Ben & Jerry’s
