PCT 2022| CALIFORNIA | DAY 25 Mission Creek mm232.1 to Coon Creek Cabin
Miles Hiked: 14.8 miles
Elevation: 4406 ft ascent | 1119 ft descent
A big day of going up: over 4300ft today. My initial goal was to get to Coon Creek Cabin, with a bigger goal to get up and over the next climb to one of the camps near a dirt road.
Shortly after starting the hike, I entered San Gorgonio (or apparently Gorgonzola according to autocorrect) Wilderness. The trail gradually changed to burnt forest, then beautiful big boulders that remind of the Sierra, to forest.
And a somewhat creepy group of abandoned cabins. We ended up setting up our tents in the open area out front, while another group ended up camping at the cabins.
Tomorrow: downhill and (hopefully) town! Also: Tarptent + Six Moon Designs sun umbrella = great spot to relax when there is no shade at camp.
