Uphill. The start of the blowdowns (just a few). Long water carry. Solo.
I’ll be honest, days 17-19 were really hard mentally and physically. There are those days when thru hiking. It’s not always fun filled days with trail friends. Sometimes it is hard. Big uphill days are hard for me—always have been, even on the last few days of my hike last year with 300 miles of Sierra under my belt. Empty batteries. That is how my legs feel. The San Jacinto days were also filled with new faces every day. I didn’t see anyone that I knew from the first two weeks on trail (some are ahead by miles to days, some behind).
But this trail…
There is just something about it. Even the bad days it is still so amazing.
It gets better. I know that from past hikes. There are ups and downs on every hike. I choose to focus on the good things.
