LEWIS LAKE | 31 AUG
Boulders. Streams. Ups and downs.
And one stunning lake at the end of it all.
This was more bouldering and trying to find stable rocks versus a hike, but the end result was the same. The boulders on the way down (and up) to Lewis Lake were just the perfect size in most places. Large enough that you aren't sliding down the slope, small enough that you don't have to find handholds to hoist yourself up. Follow the cairns or find your own route, the destination is clear.
A brief section of trail connects the two boulder fields. The last bit was more of a slide than a trail, but who's to judge. I have a feeling this section is going to turn into one long boulder field in the next several years due to erosion from people, snow, and rain. There's not much trail left in places.
